Brief Background


PEEMADI is a newly established development institute of National Agency For Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) that was established to develop the capacity and capability for the production, maintenance and quality control of power equipments and electrical machines and to transfer such capacity to small and medium enterprises for the establishment and sustenance of a viable power industry in Nigeria.

The institute was established in January 2004 and was first nurtured at NASENI headquarters, Abuja before it was moved to Okene in January 2008. PEEMADI is a newly established development institute of National Agency For Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) that was established to develop the capacity and capability for the production, maintenance and quality control of power equipments and electrical machines and to transfer such capacity to small and medium enterprises for the establishment and sustenance of a viable power industry in Nigeria.

This institute when fully operational will be a center of excellence in the design, production and repair of power equipments, electrical machines, switch gears and other ancillary equipments  required  to make  Nigeria self sufficient in power distribution and transmission for global competitiveness.

The institute will render services to Power Holding Company of Nigeria and other Independent Power producers as well as numerous industries and small scale business outfits that use electric motors and switching devices. PEEMADI will also proliferate technologies for the production and distribution of spares and components required for the production of power equipments and electrical machines in Nigeria.

 

Transformers, generators, motors, control panels, meters and switch gears are some of the electric machines to be manufactured repaired or overhauled at the Institute, while promoting specialized training to practicing and would be personnel involved in electrical power delivery business nationwide. The implementation of the institute’s mandate in human capacity development will no doubt create employment for the teeming population.
